Code Geass is an anime series created by Sunrise and characters designed by CLAMP. This anime consists of the first series that was aired in Japan in 2006, followed by its sequel Code Geass: Leleuch of Rebellion R2 in 2008.
Japan was conquered by the Empire of Britania, yielding to unequal justice and Japanese being oppressed by Brittanian people. Because of this, rebels and terrorists started a war, and the "hero" Lelouch stumbled upon a mysterious girl during a battle between Britanian authorities and terrorists. The girl gave him the Geass, the power to control people's minds through looking them in the eyes. Lelouch has always hate Britania ever since a child for personal reason, he wanted to know who ordered the killings of his mother. He then decided to battle Britania for his sister Nunally, and hid himself behind the mask Zero. Suzaku Kururugi has a big role in the series as well, he wishes to change Britania from the inside without bloodshed and a childhood friend of Lelouch, joined the army of Britania and became the ace pilot of Lancelot Knightframe.
This show has been in my anime-must-watch list for a while now, after watching the first few episodes of the series I admit that I got hooked. Every episodes of Code Geass always ended with a cliffhanger, making you look forward for the next episode. I thought at first that the main protagonist is Suzaku, or I would say even on the last episodes of the first season I thought he really is the Hero. To be honest, as I watch the sequel I lost the fun of watching it. But it's still worth to know the ending. Lelouch has gone mad, lost control of his power but unwittingly shows his vulnerable side when it comes to family and friends.
The show is exciting with mecha fighting and unique battle tactics. Lelouch indeed has a brilliant mind, however there are part of the anime that annoys me.
The OP and ED are great. All in all, I would still recommend everyone to watch it especially if you like Deathnote. My overall rate is 7/10.
