Gundam Cafe in Akihabara

A friend of mine shared this link to me about Gundam Cafe in Akihabara. This is a place where you have to stop by once in your life when you visit Akihabara, Japan.

The video will show you the food and services inside the Cafe. Ah, I wanted to try that Gundam molded Pie and Haro cake roll, on top of that pretty girls in Gundam uniforms will serve the food too. Inside the cafe, you will see pictures hanging on the walls, 1/12 scale Gundam facing you as you enter the store and Gundam robots on display. Awesome.

After shopping for your favorite manga and anime figs in Akihabara, might as well drop by in Gundam Cafe for a break and have a fun experience. It looks pretty cool and interesting, isn't it?

After Watching Code Geass Anime

Code Geass is an anime series created by Sunrise and characters designed by CLAMP. This anime consists of the first series that was aired in Japan in 2006, followed by its sequel Code Geass: Leleuch of Rebellion R2 in 2008.

Japan was conquered by the Empire of Britania, yielding to unequal justice and Japanese being oppressed by Brittanian people. Because of this, rebels and terrorists started a war, and the "hero" Lelouch stumbled upon a mysterious girl during a battle between Britanian authorities and terrorists. The girl gave him the Geass, the power to control people's minds through looking them in the eyes. Lelouch has always hate Britania ever since a child for personal reason, he wanted to know who ordered the killings of his mother. He then decided to battle Britania for his sister Nunally, and hid himself behind the mask Zero. Suzaku Kururugi has a big role in the series as well, he wishes to change Britania from the inside without bloodshed and a childhood friend of Lelouch, joined the army of Britania and became the ace pilot of Lancelot Knightframe.

This show has been in my anime-must-watch list for a while now, after watching the first few episodes of the series I admit that I got hooked. Every episodes of Code Geass always ended with a cliffhanger, making you look forward for the next episode. I thought at first that the main protagonist is Suzaku, or I would say even on the last episodes of the first season I thought he really is the Hero. To be honest, as I watch the sequel I lost the fun of watching it. But it's still worth to know the ending. Lelouch has gone mad, lost control of his power but unwittingly shows his vulnerable side when it comes to family and friends.

The show is exciting with mecha fighting and unique battle tactics. Lelouch indeed has a brilliant mind, however there are part of the anime that annoys me.

The OP and ED are great. All in all, I would still recommend everyone to watch it especially if you like Deathnote. My overall rate is 7/10.

Kimi ni Todoke Anime

This is a story of Sawako, often called "Sadako" by her classmates a horror character in The Ring. She has a creepy appearance but actually sweet and timid type of girl. Sawako's appearance made an impression to her classmates as someone that can see ghosts and can make a curse, that made her classmates afraid of her. She longs to make friends, and everything changes when Kazehaya Shota started talking to her. Shota's encouraging words and smile made her do her best in developing her personality. Ayane and Chi become the first two people who talks to her and eventually become friends with her. She was able to make friends, enemies and experienced fun at the first time. As the story progresses, a sweet love is blooming between Shota and Sawako.

Kimi Ni Todoke is based on a shoujo manga made by Karuho Shiina. It won as the Best Shoujo Manga in 2008. Watching Kimi Ni Todoke is really enjoyable, i mean whenever Sawako appears creepy and pops up in the middle of nowhere scaring people around make the scenes really funny. I also like the way it shows the building of relationships such as making new friends and having special feelings to someone. Ayane and Chi has shown their side of being such good friends to Sawako. Ryu is good with people and relationship. He knows how to deal with things despite of being silent all the time. I like Shota for being true, and equally cares for everyone.

Despite of the slow progress of Shota-Sawako love, the series is still worth watching. I love the art coloring and lighting of drawings. They brighten the appearance of characters. I like their OP theme, it reminds me of Honey and Clover's "Waltz".

All in all, i liked this anime.

Thanks to those individuals/groups who subbed this anime.

CLANNAD Anime

CLANNAD is a japanese anime, created by Key who also produced Kanon and Air. It is released by Kyoto Animation. This is a drama, comedy, romance and supernatural. CLANNAD Aftertory is the continuation of the first series. The anime has touched the hearts of many and I am one of them.

The male lead role, Tomoya Okazaki is the one narrating in the story. Tomoya grew up with his father, his mother died in an accident while he was a small boy. He has a poor relationship with his father resulting him to skip classes and became an outcast of the school. One day on his way to school, he met a girl, Nagisa Furukawa. Nagisa is a year older but keeps repeating school due to an unknown illness. From then on, they hangout most of the time and helped Nagisa to re-establish the drama club. Along the way, Tomoya and Nagisa found new friends and together they walked through their journey of life.

This is actually one of my favorite anime of all time, well aside from Gundam series of course. The anime evolves in the importance of family. It will make you cry mostly on the sequel, Afterstory. The first season of Clannad is really funny especially with Sunohora scenes and Fuko-chan. However, I found it irrelevant whenever Fuko appears on the later part of the first season... well that is just my opinion. It also has a great musical scores and beautiful opening and ending themes. Everytime I hear To The Same Heights and Roaring Tides, it feels like I'm going to cry again, it brings back the scenes in my mind.

Last March, Sentai Filmworks announced that the hit series will receive an English Dub and it premiered in Anime Network VOD, America's #1 anime channel, on full English dub started on March 25, 2010.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Gurren Lagann anime is too good that I finished half of the season in a day. In Japan it is known as Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, "Heavenly Breakthrough Gurren Lagann" as alternate title. This is a mecha anime, a fictional story where the humans are forced to stay under the earth's surface. Simon, a 14yr old kid is respected as the best digger in the village. One day while digging he found a spiral piece and a mecha head, the spiral piece serves as the key to activate the head. He named it "Lagann". With Kamina's courage, together they made it up to the surface and found that there are other mechas used by beastmen called "Gunmen". During a fight, Kamina captures the Gunmen and pilot it himself and he named it "Gurren". Of all the mecha anime I have watched, this anime is one that I would best recommend. This was released in TV Tokyo in 2007.
My personal rate: 9/10

NANA anime series

This is an anime adaptation of a shojo manga series by Ai Yazawa. The anime ended long ago, and i doubt if they will have season 2 (but i still hope so). There are 2 Film adaptations, the first one was released in 2005 and the 2nd was in 2006.

This is a slice of life, romance and drama. A story of life chasing dreams, falling in love and friendship of two different personalities.

The story of two women who met by fate whom both are called Nana. One is a musician who will follow his boyfriend's career path to Tokyo, dreaming to be a pro as a singer of the band, BLAST. The other band members come to Tokyo in a goal to make their dreams come true.
The 2nd Nana has a sweet and friendly character, who often finds herself in the arms of the wrong guys. She easily falls in love and is very dependent on other people. She is also bound to Tokyo to follow her boyfriend, and hoping to find a job there. One stormy night, the two Nanas meet on the train by chance, both on their way to Tokyo..

When I watched the anime, at first I found Hachi stupid for choosing the wrong guys and doing something half heartedly. I was even hoping that Hachi and Nobu will end up together. But the reality is sometimes you choose what you think is best for each other. I love the story of friendship and love, on how they go on on such difficult circumstances in life.

The anime obviusly should have a second season, however even the manga itself is not yet even finished. I read the manga hoping to know the ending of the story.. The series was left unfinished because the author gets seriously ill last year. I wish that Yazawa will get better and finish NANA. I bet many of us manga readers, anime fanatics would love to see how both NANA manage to live on.

Gundam 00 Movie 2010 - Latest Trailer

I have finished watching Mobile Suit Gundam 00 series a week ago. This is a two season anime and a movie sequel to be release in September 2010. This is directed by Seiji Mizushima and written by Yƍsuke Kuroda. The series is about the celestial being, a private paramilitary force that wish to eradicate war in the world using their mobile suits, Gundam. Sunrise really pulled it off with a very good story and soundtrack too. Sugoii.
The opening theme for episodes 1-13 is "DAYBREAK'S BELL" by L'arc~en~Ciel and The Brilliant Green's "Ash Like Snow" in episodes 14-25, which are absolutely great by the way.

They have released the movie trailer (Oh I am so excited!)
